Yelf Births 1830-1860

A good few years ago I found myself between jobs and took the opportunity to spend the time researching the Yelfs at the old St Catherine's House. I can't guarantee the results were 100% correct, that I haven't missed any or that everything was transcribed correctly but they may be of use to those doing a little research of their own. The records were broken down in quarters as indicated. These are all YELF records unless otherwise noted. Remember the registers were started in 1837 but took a while for everyone to comply so there may be gaps. And finally, there will be more to follow...

I am a relative of the Harbidge family. I have three articles that relate to Yelfs. Harbidges farmed at Morton on Marsh (as did your Fred). There is also a James who died in the war, James Harbidge-Yelf, Mariner.


Marriage: Harbidge – Yelf. On the 13th inst., at St. George’s, Hanover square, by the Rev. J. McConechy, M.A. James Harbidge Esq., Manor House, Little Compton, Goucestershire, to Clara, youngest daughter of Robert Yelf, Esq. Stourbridge House, near Ryde, Isle of Wight. CLARA Yelf 1815 – 1901 JAMES HARBIDGE 1814 - 1899 Marriage Jun 13, 1867, London Middlesex.

On the 21st instant, at the residence of his son-in-law, James Harbidge, Esq, the Manor House, Little Compton, Gloucestershire, Robert Yelf, Esq.,
Of Uplands, Ryde, Isle of White, in his 86th year.
